CITE 2015 to Establish an Ideal Tourism Networking Platform for Businesses in Southwestern China

The fourth Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) 2015 will be held from 3 to 5 December 2015 at the Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS) Singapore and CEMS (Beijing) Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd, and supported by the Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration and Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition, CITE 2015 will be held at the Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and is expected to attract over 200 exhibitors from 40 countries, as well as over 3,000 trade professionals and 40,000 public visitors. The first two days of the exhibition will be strictly for trade visitors only, while public visitors will be welcome on the third day of the exhibition.

Speaking to more than 30 media personnel at a press conference at the Hotel New Otani Chang Fu Gong in Beijing on 28 July 2015, Group Managing Director of CEMS Singapore and CEMS (Beijing) Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd, Mr Edward Liu, explained that CITE 2015 will serve as a one-stop international networking hub for professionals in the travel and tourism industry. Through various on-site activities such as B2B Meetings, Hosted Buyers Programme and Destinations’ Presentation Sessions, trade professionals will get to meet, learn and explore collaborative opportunities with fellow international industry counterparts. Public visitors will also be able to locate and purchase attractive travel deals with established travel companies and gain critical insights into international destinations.

To date, many potential exhibitors from various international tourism bodies have already expressed their keen interest to be part of CITE 2015. Currently, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Israel\'s Tourism Bureau, Tourism Bureau of Chengdu, Tourism in Tibet Autonomous Region, Lhasa City Tourism Bureau, as well as 19 other Tourism Bureaus. Many businesses in the MICE industry, such as Tibet Hotel and Emei Shan Tourism Co., have also expressed their interest in taking part in CITE 2015.

With tourism fast picking up pace in china, CITE 2015 is nothing but timely. According to a report by EU SME Centre, China registered a total of 2.46 billion domestic tourists and 2.2 trillion Chinese Yuan in tourism revenue in 2012. Inbound tourism stands at 57 million trips, with a total of 3.15 billion Chinese Yuan in incoming tourist receipts, while China’s outbound tourism industry recorded a total of 97 million outbound trips, over taking the USA as the world’s largest outbound market. China also became the world’s biggest spenders on international travel with a total outbound expenditure of USD102 billion in 2012.

A fast-developing city, Chengdu is ranked the 10th most developed tourism city in China in 2014. Its airport, the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, is one of the top 40 busiest airports in the world. Out of the 280 urban centres in China, Chengdu is one of the preferred cities for investment, and is named the fourth most liveable city in China.

Indeed, Chengdu’s tourism market holds immense potential. Trade professionals looking for ways to capture this burgeoning market should not miss out on CITE 2015.
