TIME Hotels only hospitality industry company re cognised by Dubai Chamber this year

UAE-headquartered hospitality company, TIME Hotels Management, has added to its growing list of accolades with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Dubai Chamber) CSR Label Award for 2015.
Launched in 2010 to reward corporate commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, TIME Hotels was the sole hospitality industry company to be recognised this year.
“We are very much a community-focused company and this award recognises the team’s contribution towards helping to build a responsible and sustainable business community in Dubai,” said Mohamed Awadalla, CEO, TIME Hotels.
“Receiving the official ‘label’ is effectively a seal of approval from Dubai Government for TIME Hotels, and also allows us to benchmark our own initiatives against those of other forward-thinking companies in the emirate, for whom CSR is a core principle of their overall business strategy,” he added.
The CSR Label is awarded based on performance scores across seven different criteria including human resources (training, development, welfare, Emiratisation), client relations, business development, procurement, environment, health and safety, innovation, community; with Dubai Chamber also measuring the resulting impact in four key areas, namely workplace, marketplace, community and environmental.
According to Hamad Buamim, President & CEO, Dubai Chamber, TIME Hotels scored 68.6% across the board, which represents outstanding performance against an average Label Award score of 65.2%.
TIME Hotels community outreach programme has seen it initiate and take the lead on a number of projects in Dubai, and internationally, with a corporate mandate to focus on adding value to people’s lives and the community in general through a combination of cash or in-kind donations, education and employee engagement activities.
In the workplace, TIME also demonstrated its commitment to diversity and equal opportunities with employee learning and development activities designed to maximise individual potential and strategic contribution to corporate goals, underpinned by performance appraisals and rewards programme.
The company is similarly committed to attracting, recruiting and retaining top talent from across the globe; identifying prospective executives and connecting talent to leaders within the company.
Health and wellbeing is another TIME Hotels’ priority, with its 561 Dubai-based employees enjoying access to a tailor-made Wellness Programme that includes stress management, top-to-toe physical health advice and support, and nutrition counseling, which is linked to the company’s innovative Slow Food initiative. The company also sets clear targets and KPIs to reduce sick leave absenteeism and lost workdays as well as manage healthcare costs.
In the Dubai marketplace, TIME has worked ceaselessly to establish strong partnerships with clients, businesses and suppliers, with CSR and sustainability goals front of mind, supported by formal processes.
The group has been a market leader in environmental initiatives and, as a Green Globe-certified company, was also the first hotel company in the region to launch a highly successful carbon offset accommodation programme.
Dubai Chamber has a total of 186 companies enrolled under its CSR Label programme, with just 16 received the award this year to be recognised for their individual efforts.
“We are thrilled to receive this award, especially given the high profile companies from across the business world, such as Enoc, Mashreq Bank, Dulsco, UNB and Amlak Finance, who were also recognised this year,” remarked Awadalla.
