Countdown to Chengdu International Tourism Expo 2015

The highly anticipated Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) 2015 is will be fast approaching in a month’s time, and will be held from 3 to 5 December 2015 at the Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS) Singapore and CEMS (Beijing) Conference & Exhibition Co., Ltd, and supported by the Sichuan Provincial Tourism Administration, the Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration and Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Exposition, CITE 2015 is expected to span over 10,000 square meters and attract over 300 exhibitors from 30 countries, as well as 4,000 trade professionals.

 

Since the recruitment phase, many travel agencies and National Tourism Organizations have expressed their interest to be a part of CITE 2015. One of them includes Israel Tourism Board, whose pavilion will feature 16 other Israeli travel agencies. Finland, Slovenia and other countries in Europe and Africa, Latin American are also keen to take part in CITE 2015. In the domestic section, provinces such as Beijing, Chengdu, Tibet, Yunnan Lijiang, Dali, Mongolia will also be showcasing their tourism resources in CITE 2015.

 

Well recognised and strongly supported by the tourism industry, CITE 2015 will serve as a one-stop international networking hub for professionals in the travel and tourism industry. This year, CITE 2015 will feature stage performances and destination presentation sessions from more than 10 exhibitors. They include a presentation on 2016 tourism in spring in Sichuan by the Sichuan Provincial Tourism Administration, as well as various promotional activities and presentation sessions for trade and public visitors by tuniu.com. The renowned travel website will present a seminar session with the topic covering social networking sites in 2015, as well as the rise in trend in self-drive travel packages. Public visitors will also get to enjoy exclusive travel packages by tuniu.com. Through these activities, trade professionals will get to meet, learn and explore collaborative opportunities with fellow international industry counterparts, while public visitors will be able to locate and purchase attractive travel deals with established travel companies and gain critical insights into international destinations. 

 

With tourism fast picking up pace in china, CITE 2015 is nothing but timely. According to a report by EU SME Centre, China registered a total of 2.46 billion domestic tourists and 2.2 trillion Chinese Yuan in tourism revenue in 2012. Inbound tourism stands at 57 million trips, with a total of 3.15 billion Chinese Yuan in incoming tourist receipts, while China’s outbound tourism industry recorded a total of 97 million outbound trips, over taking the USA as the world’s largest outbound market. China also became the world’s biggest spenders on international travel with a total outbound expenditure of USD102 billion in 2012.

 

A fast-developing city, Chengdu is ranked the 10th most developed tourism city in China in 2014. Its airport, the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, is one of the top 40 busiest airports in the world. Out of the 280 urban centres in China, Chengdu is one of the preferred cities for investment, and is named the fourth most liveable city in China.

 

With a booming economy, together with a rapidly growing tourism industry, Chengdu’s tourism market holds immense potential.
