Christmas splendor in The Garden of England

Get into the swing of Christmas with the always popular Quexmas at Quex Park in Birchington on 22nd November. More than 70 stalls will offer artisan crafts and gifts, and will be spread out throughout the Powell-Cotton Museum, Quex House and gardens, with the Birchington Hand Bell Ringers performing some festive sounds to help create that Christmas spirit. Over in Margate, a trip to The Frosted Fairground is a must, as Dreamland is transformed into a vintage wonderland this December. The park will be free to enter (pay per ride) and will be filled with festive fun, thrills and good times - visit Father Christmas in his grotto, buy a Christmas tree, shop till you drop in the Christmas market, enjoy a toy workshop experience or book tickets for the host of festive shows, concerts and screenings planned. There will be plenty of festive fun to enjoy in Gravesend, starting with Christmas on the Hill on 28th November, when Windmill Hill Gardens becomes a candlelit wonderland. Lantern-making workshops for youngsters will run from 2pm, before the candle-lit parade around Windmill Hill led by Father Christmas and fireworks display - wear your Christmas-y outfits! For keen shoppers, the two day Fayre on the Square returns on 4th and 5th December with more than 60 stalls and live entertainment each day in Community Square. And for a one-off Christmas event like no other, join the crowds on 11th December for Gravesend’s Guinness World Record Attempt for the most people in one location wearing head boppers! Organisers will give out free Christmas-themed head boppers to help crack the target - the current record stands at 465 in the USA, so head to the fun-filled event and help Gravesend smash it! Over in West Kent, the Tonbridge Christmas Festival offers an array of magical events to keep you and the family happy all day and night on 22nd November. The festivities begin with live entertainment on Tonbridge High Street from 2.30pm, followed by the Christmas light switch on. Head to the Sheerness Christmas Market on 5thDecember for a festive day of parades, fun runs and sparkling lights. An all-day Christmas market will be set up in the High Street, and there will be live music, carols, street entertainment, seasonal food and drink, and a chance to visit Father Christmas. The afternoon will see the town host its first ‘Santa Run’, followed by the magical Christmas Lantern Parade and Christmas lights switch on.

Just outside of Canterbury, Goodnestone Park will open its doors this winter for a very special Christmas fair on 5th December with 29 stallholders in the FitzWalter Rooms and a food fair in the tearooms.  Entrance is in aid of Kidney Research, the chosen charity of the late Lady Margaret FitzWalter.
