Go South Policy-Taiwan Seize New Business Opportunities of MICE Industry at IT&CMA2016

To promote Taiwan as an ideal destination for meeting and incentive travel, Taiwan Tourism Bureau once again spearheaded a strong MICE team to participate in IT&CMA in Bangkok, Thailand, from 27 September to 29 September, 2016, with 13 exhibitors including Taiwan Convention & Exhibition Association, Apple Tour, Grand Hyatt, MEET TAIWAN, Regent Taipei, Taiwanlook DMC, TW MICE Event & Destination Management, Taipei City Government, Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, and The Howard Plaza Hotels. In addition, copying with government’s new policy “Go South”, the co-exhibitors participated more than last year.
With delicate decoration and Taiwan attractiveness, Taiwan pavilion attracted hundreds of buyers, trade visitors, corporate buyers and media to conduct business talks with exhibitors. In the course of networking, buyers showed their strong interests in the Asian Pacific market particularly in Taiwan as a shining new destination for them to discover.
On the second day of IT&CMA, Taiwan Tourism Bureau attended the association day and hosted a media briefing to promote Taiwan. Moreover, Taiwan pavilion held a successful and unique happy hour to welcome buyers and visitors to experience Taiwan Michelin-starred Din Tai Fung “xiao long bao.”, which named as one of the best Taiwan snacks you cannot missed by CNN and the most popular brand of xiao-long-bao in the world, it attracted scores of buyers waiting in line at Taiwan booth for the happy hour. Taiwan’s high-profile soft power is also worldwide famous. Cartoon portrait paintings is the theme this year. Buyers and visitors can paint their own unique Taiwanese style cartoon portrait and the paintings can be customized. It appealed bunch of visitors came to Taiwan booth to experience. And Taiwan Tourism Bureau also invited the “third princes” dancing and promote Taiwan’s tradition culture. With professional MICE team, impressed media briefing, excellent public relations, and warm hospitality of delegates, Taiwan had successfully impressed lots of buyers and achieved the goal of promoting Taiwan as an ideal MICE destination.
Situated in the heart of Asia, Taiwan plays a key role and provides a platform to link Asia with the world‘s MICE market. Taiwan Tourism Bureau also provides administrative support and subsidies to encourage incoming meeting and incentive travel groups, which includes tour planning assistance, cultural performances and special souvenirs etc.. Financial grants range from USD 1,000 to 60,000 depending on the size of group. Furthermore, in order to promote government’s new “Go South” policy, not only encouraging Ten ASEAN and South Asian countries to visit Taiwan but also consider to give the good record tourists from Southeast Asia a two to five-year multiple entry visa for the bushiness convenience. Above all, Taiwan now is no doubt the first choice for incentive travel destination.
