A prominent UAE philanthropist celebrates her law degree

Dr. Samar Al Shamsi hosted an Iftar Party yesterday in celebration of her recent graduation, obtaining a Bachelor of Law with Honors from a leading institution in Dubai.

Held at Al Majlis Tent in Hudayriat Island, Abu Dhabi, the celebration was attended by scores of colleagues, media professionals, social influencers and fans of art.

Dr. Samar stressed that she is currently pursuing her Master Degree in the Intellectual Property Law. She also holds a PhD in architecture.

Asked about this shift in her interests, the widely known as “Arabian Mona Lisa” said that learning and self-development is a continuous process that adds new facets to the human being with every new experience. The late Sheikh Zayed, she continued, has always stressed the importance of educating women so they can contribute to the nation’s advancement.

In a statement to the press, Dr Samar commented, “I am humbled by the support I have received for my success and achievements. This would not have been possible without my professors, family and friends who enabled my education which I pursued with passion, perseverance and determination”.

She added, “I have chosen to specialize in the field of Intellectual Property Law after I faced several property theft and other fraudulent acts with respect to my work. I realized I needed to arm myself with the tools to defend my rights”.

Doing justice to her recent qualification, Dr. Samar reported her recent successes across cases she undertook in Europe and Africa. She will dedicate her efforts to lending a voice for the marginalized communities and fighting for the rights of persons suffering from poverty and those with limited means.

Dr. Samar stated, “With 2018 being the Year of Zayed, I must acknowledge the role played by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the evolution of my career. His nobility and the impacts of his humanitarian work has been an inspiration to me. His legacy is further promoted by H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, UAE President, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and all other rulers”.

In addition, Dr. Samar is a notable advocate for children. She fiercely fights against the injustice of children and stands to implement children’s education across the Middle East. Most recently she embarked on a mission to use art as a therapy for war-stricken children in the Za’tari camp. This follows her efforts to offer relief to Syrian refugee camps in Jordan.

“I hope to devote my career to humanitarian and children’s issues and aim to make advancements to my philanthropic work in the upcoming years,” concluded Dr. Samar.
